A girl can dream..
As a photographer for the past 2+ years, I have been able to have a ton of incredible experiences. Met so many dynamic people and shed so many tears being able to help women see their beauty in a different way, and memorialize it forever. However, as with anything, there is always more I want to do. Short term, long term, different vibes, different styles, places, dynamics and goals in general. This week I'm going to brain dump all of the things going through my mind, because it has to live somewhere, and maybe someone else will see it and want to participate or help make the dream a reality.
Same sex couple's photoshoot
This has been something I have been DYING to do for the longest time. Everyone who knows me knows that couple's photoshoots are some of my favorites period. Being able to capture the connection two people have is something so special and wonderful, it has brought me to tears. I have dated another woman before, and know how special of a dynamic it is. Love is love, and there is something added when you have the knowledge that some people have very strong feelings about your relationship. Being together in that experience, and seeing how that reinforces connection. While we are fortunate to live in a more welcoming society than previous generations, I would love to be a part of normalizing these images and experiences. They deserve to be celebrated alongside other couple's and that is why it is something I am excited to be a part of one day.
In a river/lake
I love water, yes I am a water sign. Plus there is something magical about water, and how it impacts photography and environment in general. Of course we offer wet sets, but that is a more aesthetic approach, I want my client IN the water. Whether it be in a dress, lingerie, nude, or even a more stylized look, I love the challenge that comes with being in nature, at the whim of Mother Nature. While we have done way more outside than we ever have in the past year, this is the next frontier for me. Even doing more filled tub work or in a pool would scratch the itch!
Bridal party boudoir party
While I love all Boudoir Parties, each one having a special place in my heart, I love the idea of a genuine Boudoir Party with a bridal party. They are so much work to coordinate, plan and carry out, but the day of the reveal is worth every moment. The feedback I get from Boudoir Parties is always surrounding the energy of these experiences. That it is overwhelmingly empowering to be surrounded by other women who either have the confidence, or it builds in front of you. Adding in the knowledge that this will be shared between two people embarking on a life together.
On that note....
Seeing a reveal between partners
I would LOVE to actually see a partner's reaction to their partner's Boudoir photos. While I love my client's reactions, I truly love seeing other's reactions to the photos. For example, when I see people posting their photos, I always check out the inevitably incredible comments that follow. It is amazing to feel the power and confidence that comes with that feedback. Even though I emphasize the importance of doing it primarily for yourself, it is really cool to see the impact on others.
Retreat
The way I want to be able to eventually do an empowerment retreat.. Beyond words. Because of my background as a social worker and counselor, I would love the opportunity to develop a retreat for a small group of women. This can look a lot of different ways, I've seen other Boudoir photographers approach it differently. Whether it be a professional retreat with other photographers for a learning experience, or a genuine empowerment retreat. Honestly both sound amazing. A combination of photoshoot, experiential and processing experiences. This idea is less flushed out, but being somewhere amazing is definitely a part of it.
Foam photoshoot
I'm thinking Demi Lovato in the "Cool for the Summer" music video. Where she is in a tub of foam, or maybe it was a foam party? I'm not sure, either way, I want to play with foam.
Education
At some point I want to offer education to other photographers. I have learned a lot, but definitely more to learn. One day though it is something I would love to offer. We have to help each other out here.
More themed photoshoots
Overall, I think one of my favorite experiences was a recent themed photoshoot I did. It was a giveaway winner from Go Getter Movement Studios. She had such a specific vision, and a testament to her younger self. She was a scene girl, and she pulled out all of the stops to bring the vision full circle. I'm talking, rubber bracelets, gloves, paint splatter belt, the WORKS. It was absolutely everything. Also being able to work so closely with not only her, but Kasi and Leah to collaborate on the vision. While we do this naturally, the creativity behind this one had us so excited. So anytime we can truly theme something out, we are simply obsessed.
Obviously there are tons more, but a good place to start as we get closer to the end of the year.
