Nervous? We get it.
This is not a small thing you committed too. It is vulnerable, it is not something you do everyday. Unless you do, in which case I’m more nervous than you are. While the consultation process helps in developing a plan for your photoshoot, and your questionnaire helps me to understand what you love about yourself, and maybe some of the things that you don’t, we know there is only so much we can do to minimize your nerves in the days that lead up to your photoshoot.
In our linktree, that can be found on our social media profiles in the descriptions, there is an Amazon list “Self Care & Prep.” There you will find a number of products that we find helps in the self care. The Speak To Me Squad stands by these recommendations and you will find things that we ourselves use frequently if not everyday. As a therapist, I believe in self care. That while some can perceive this as self-indulgent, I see it as taking care of yourself. While everyone’s definition is different, there is one thing that reigns true, we need to love ourselves to allow others to love us.
In addition to our Amazon list, our girls Kasi and Leah work at the Trendz Salon in Allentown Pennsylvania. This is a full service salon, offering head to toe services. Kasi the best colorist in the Lehigh Valley, a sorceress with a dye brush. She does not only my hair but our girl Leah’s as well. Effortlessly creative, and such a dynamic dark goddess. I swear I’m not biased just because she is one of my best friends. Then there is Leah. Beautiful, sweet bubbly and inspiring. She does a little bit of everything at the salon. Want your nails done ahead of your photoshoot? Absolutely. Pedicure to match? Say less. And did we mention she does brow tint, hair herself and who knows what else these days? Anything you can think of to feel yourself head to toe, literally.
In addition to these things, in our preparation guide, you will find a short list of things you can do ahead of time to make sure you are feeling good the day of your photoshoot. This includes things like the above, hair and nails, but also some smaller things that make a huge difference. This includes;
- Drinking tons of water: Hydration is truly the key to life. Not only does it help with dry skin, it helps with fine lines, making them appear smoother and plumper. Throughout the photoshoot I will be making sure you stay hydrated as well, as this aids in avoiding aches and pains after the photoshoot.
- Make sure that the lingerie that you chose for the photoshoot is comfortable. You don’t want pieces that are going to be digging into your skin and making you feel self conscious throughout the process. Making sure that your look fits the way you want it too, and you feel confident in it, is the best way to start your experience. I love when people are shocked in how they feel in their lingerie. How empowering it and shocked they are to feel sexy.
- Get to bed early! I know that can be easier said then done, proper rest with ensure that you feel your best first thing. While we don’t begin typically until 11:30AM, I fully believe a smooth, calm morning is the best way to ensure a smooth and wonderful day.
Obviously there are so many other things, but in my experience, both in front of and behind the camera, these are the most impactful aspects of photoshoot preparation. This is why I find it to be so important to experience photoshoots myself. To make sure I don’t ask anyone to do something I wouldn’t do myself, to put myself in your shoes and how to support you in this process.
Take the leap, you won’t regret it.
We can’t wait to meet you.
