What is a Wet Set?

In a word, hot. Well, to be honest the process is chilly while it's happening, but the end result is beyond words. There is something magical about seeing how water can bead and flow on the skin. This week we are going to explore how the session differs from a typical Boudoir session and why it could be a perfect fit for your next Boudoir Experience.

Step 1: Consultation

As per usual everything starts with the consultation. During this we will discuss your experience with Boudoir, comfort level as well as desired vision. Typically, a wet set is something people don't choose for their first experience with boudoir. This is for a couple reasons, the primary one being that the emphasis is placed on details and detail shots. This takes a certain amount of comfortability with wearing very little, and having those up close and personal shots. However, there can be exceptions. The benefit of this is that we can emphasize specific body parts and focus on shape. There are also some creative ways we can further individualize the experience. For example, adding fresh roses. The way we prep the body for the set makes the petals easier to stick to the body. So the possibilities, as usual, are endless.

Step 2: Additional prep before session

We suggest when you are planning for a wet set to make extra certain that you bring comfortable clothing. While we always recommend that you come in loose fitting and comfortable clothing, a robe being perfect to lounge in while you get your hair and makeup done. There are some tips and tricks we use to make sure we get the right look for the water too. So get ready to get all oiled up, we use baby oil to make sure the water beads off the skin and creates that epic effect. But don't worry, I make sure the water is warm for you so it's a little more comfortable. In addition, we make sure to put down some trash bags or a tarp to keep from flooding the floors, we will use more than you think! Also making sure we have towels ready for when we are done.

Step 3: The photoshoot

As noted above, this focus of a wet set is the details. The way that water interacts with the body and majority of the shots and posing is centered around shape. The lighting, the outfit all have to work in harmony for everything to look perfect. This also doesn't have to just be with water either, again, the way we individualize photoshoots matters, it is all about what speaks to you. We have done one with champagne before, and while it was a little more sticky, it was a lot of fun. Typical rules apply, lots of arching which of course you will be coached through, and in addition, I may be asking you to hold the positions a little longer to make sure we get the perfect shot.

Step 4: Aftercare

Depending on the route we go you will likely want a shower. The usual recommendations also apply. Get cozy, make sure to counter stretch, stay hydrated (drinking it instead of wearing it), and get excited for the reveal.
