Oh hi, it's been a while...

Hello again Speak To Me Fam, it's been a minute since I've written, or posted. Life has been lifing, and getting back on track has been challenging. However, we haven't stopped meeting new amazing clients, past clients who have come back for another go around, and setting up goals for the new year. So let's get to it, what have we been up to since our last blog post in August.

We moved!!

This fall I said goodbye to our home based studio, and embarked on a new journey with my partner. Moving into his home and working on making his place, ours. It has been a pretty intense process, lots of paint, organizing, and renovating. Something that is difficult about being home based studio, is we definitely have to have a certain vibe to the space we shoot in. Every location I have typically conducted photoshoots in has typically had a ton of natural light and been very neutral. In the new space, it was developing a deeper more moody vibe that can expand possibilities for our clients.

There have been growing pains. Lessons learned and different ways in which we are continuing to make adjustments. We have been able to have amazing outcomes and provide incredible experiences. As a team we are looking at different options as well though. It can be incredibly stressful making sure everything is perfect all of the time. Particularly with 3 dogs, and lets face it, a man in the house.

However, there have been a few more things we have been up to behind the scenes.

Making connections

In the past 2 months, I have learned of and connected with The Studios on Seventh in Emmaus, and met the amazing owners Dave and David. They offer an incredible and expansive space with ALL of the natural light. They offer photographers an opportunity to have access to their space, their client closet, as well as studio lighting, backdrops and furniture. They have monthly open call photoshoots with models and photographers to expand portfolios and try new things, as we as educational opportunities for photographers to increase their knowledge base on lighting and other photography skills.

I was graced the opportunity to be a model for their winter shoot (photos to come), as well as work directly with the owners to see what can be done with the space and with the lighting opportunities both natural and artificial. Both opportunities were special in their own way and I learned a lot. More to come in this area..

New/old day job

In the past 4 months I also returned to a facility I loved working at in the past, but in a new position. As I have shared previously I am by trade a Licensed Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and 4 plus months ago I had the opportunity to return to the last place I was genuinely in love with what I did, but instead of being a counselor it would be as Clinical Supervisor. It was a job I had applied for 4 years ago and didn't get it, but having more experience and wisdom under my belt, it was time.

It has been a challenging transition that's for sure. More responsibility, more time consuming, and focus needed. Which I knew I was signing up for, but doesn't make it any less challenging. Plus being in my field in general, and working in a location that is 24/7, 365. It's rewarding, but the bad days are bad. It is a draining field and job, so at the end of the day I'm exhausted. Trying to find the balance in it all is something I am still working on.

And that's where we are at

Lot's of change, but the same squad, providing incredible experiences to our clients that are individualized, intimate and luxurious. To celebrate everything that makes you beautiful, strong and wonderful. Check us out as we get back on track, we can't wait to meet to meet you.
